This documentary film takes an engaging look at the unique experiences and aspirations of Muslim children throughout the world as they compete in Egypt’s International Koran Reading Competition, one of the Islamic world’s most prestigious contests. After the film, take part in a discussion led by Imam Plemon T. El-Amin, Imam Emeritus of the Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam. The Bridging Cultures Bookshelf: Muslim Journeys is a project of the National Endowment for the Humanities, conducted in cooperation with the American Library Association. Support was provided by a grant from Carnegie Corporation of New York. Additional support for the arts and media components was provided by the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art.
