![]() Opening Reception -- With remarks and details about the exhibit by Jorge E. Román Morey, Consul General of Peru in Atlanta. Music, dance and light refreshments. Exhibit runs September 10 -- October 18 Qhapaq Ñan, the Inca road system, is an amazing example of pre-Columbian engineering. Constructed in the 14th and 15th centuries, this sophisticated network included two main roads running parallel along the western coast and through the Andes Mountains, suspension bridges, secondary lateral roads and a system of inns called "tambos". The more than 14,000 miles of roads served to connect the Inca government to its vast territories that included parts of present-day Peru, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Argentina. In this exhibition, breathtaking color photographs and engravings recreate this marvel of man. The exhibition was organized by the Ministry of External Relations of Peru and the General Consulate of Peru in Atlanta. For more information, call 404-370-8450, ext. 2258. |
