Welcome to the Vacation Reading Program 2008! The theme this year is Catch the Reading Bug. Library branches are having exciting summer programs and events for your enjoyment.

Kids can start signing up for the 2008 Vacation Reading Program beginning Saturday, May 24.

Catch the Reading Bug

is for children ages 3-12. Children and their parents/caregivers will receive a reading log and earn raffle tickets for the hours they read.

First half of reading log (4 rows of honeycombs*)—certificate, bag and raffle ticket
Second half of reading log (4 rows of honeycombs)—raffle ticket

Children in grades K-12 who sign up for the Vacation Reading Program can receive a Hawks/Thrashers bookmark. Follow the instructions on the bookmark to receive free tickets to a Hawks or Thrashers game.

* Each honeycomb equals 10 minutes of reading time.

Program Schedule

Wee Readers

Wee Reader is a special Vacation Reading Program for babies from birth to 2 years. Parents/caregivers will list the titles read to their babies.Wee Reader incentives are made possible by a grant from Target®.

5 books—certificate and bag
10 books—board book

Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis is for teens ages 13-17. Teens will receive a reading log and earn raffle tickets for the hours they read. Each honeycomb is worth 10 minutes.

5 hours—raffle ticket
10 hours—raffle ticket
15 hours—raffle ticket
20 hours—raffle ticket and mug
25 hours—raffle ticket
30 hours—raffle ticket
