Photocopiers, Public Use PCs and Typewriters << Services << Your Library

Photocopiers and Microform Reader Printers.
Coin-operated photocopiers and microform reader printers are maintained for the convenience of library patrons.
Copies are 15¢ per page. A maximum of $2.00 in change is available per person.
Photocopiers
According to copyright law these machines are considered unsupervised and the Library takes no responsibility for what patrons may wish to copy. In accordance with the law, all machines display prominently a notice that states:
The Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17, U.S. Code) governs the making of photocopies of copyrighted material. The person using this machine is liable for any infringement.
Photocopy machines are located in all branches. Most machines have enlargement and reduction features. Available copy sizes are 8 1/2" x 11" (letter) and 8 1/2" x 14" (legal).
Reader Printers
Decatur has many reader printers, including machines which can display and make prints of 35 mm and 16 mm roll microfilm, 16 mm microfilm cartridges, and microfiche.

Public Use PCs and Typewriters
The Library provides typewriters, and computers with word processing and other productivity software and printers that the public can use for the preparation of homework, resumes and cover letters, etc.
Please note that the typewriters and computers at the Scottdale-Tobie Grant Homework Center are intended for the use of school students, and time is limited to 30 minutes per session. Adults may use these machines, but use by children is given priority.
Public Use PCs
Public Use PCs with Microsoft Office productivity software (Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint) and laser printers are available at all branches. There is no charge for using the computer, but there is a 15¢ per page charge for printing. These stations also have Internet access and all Internet Guidelines apply.
If you wish to save your files, please bring a formatted 3.5" floppy disk or USB flash drive.
Typewriters
There is no charge for the use of typewriters. Use is on a first-come, first-served basis.
