Income Tax Forms

Federal and state income tax forms are made available to library patrons free of charge or in reproducible form. Between the first of the year and April 15, each branch has the following forms available:
  • the 1040 family of forms, schedules and instructions, in quantity.
  • other major federal tax forms.
  • the Reproducible Federal Tax Forms notebook (Publication 1132) with less commonly used schedules and instructions. These forms may be photocopied for 15¢ per page.
  • Georgia 500 and 500EZ forms and instructions and a few other common Georgia forms.

Tax audio and video cassettes are available at some branches.

Library staff is not trained to answer questions of any kind about the content or intent of tax forms and law. Referral telephone numbers for tax assistance are posted in all branches.

THOR Engravers

DeKalb County Public Library offers metal engravers for check-out as part of the Department of Police Services' Operation ID, a program designed to discourage theft and to recover stolen property in neighborhoods. The engravers are available for etching identification numbers on valuable items. This effort serves as a deterrent to theft because stolen items bearing etched identification numbers are more difficult for thieves to sell, easier to recover, and linkable to specific crimes.

Engravers may be borrowed for two days. When the engraver is returned, you will be given Operation ID stickers to display at your home.

How to Join Operation I.D.

  1. Obtain an electric engraver from your DeKalb Crime Prevention Office or from the nearest DeKalb County Library.
  2. Engrave your identification number (preferably Social Security Number or Driver's License Number with the date of your engraving following it).
  3. Photograph valuables that you choose not to engrave (heirlooms, antiques, coin collections, silver, etc.)
  4. Compile an itemized list of all valuables (both photographed and marked). Keep this list and photographs in a secure place.
  5. Place decals showing your participation in Operation I.D. on windows and doors where they will be visible.
Special Tips
  • Use only one number for the entire family.
  • Mark all removable parts of the item.
  • Mark engraved figures large enough to be easily discernible without defacing the item.
  • Mark number in an obvious place on each item.
Items to be Marked

All items of value should be marked, which include the following choice items for burglars:

  • fishing, golf and camping equipment
  • televisions, CD and DVD players, stereos, radios and computers
  • cameras, projectors and home appliances
  • bicycles, guns and musical Instruments
  • lawn mowers and expensive tools
