The Chamblee, Clarkston and Decatur libraries also offer computers with instructional software.

Below you will find more detailed descriptions of the Library's efforts in three of five areas of literacy. Phone numbers for agencies with whom we work also are listed.

Test Preparation (GED, ASVAB, & many others).

The Library provides test preparation materials specifically for, but not limited to, the GED and ASVAB Exams.

The General Education Development Exam (GED) provides students who have not received a diploma from an accredited high school with an opportunity to earn a high school equivalency diploma. The Exam, made up of five parts, covers the following subjects:  writing skills, social studies, science, interpreting literature and arts, and mathematics. More information about the GED is available at the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education.

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a group of eight (8) subtests that measures the test taker's aptitude for various careers. Only four (4) of the eight subtests count toward your Armed Forces Qualifying Test (AFQT) score. The AFQT score determines whether or not you can enlist in the Armed Forces. More information is available from The ASVAB Program.

DCPL Programs & Services:

All DCPL branches have materials which can assist those studying for the GED and TOEFL exams. LearningExpressLibrary offers online practice tests for the GED, TOEFL, ASVAB, SAT, PRAXIS, and a variety of other tests.
