What is a Friend?
Friends are people just like you who are committed to the development and support of a quality, community-oriented public library system. Throughout the history of DeKalb County Public Library, Friends have been a strong voice for the message that accessible library service is not a luxury, but a necessity in every community and neighborhood.
What do Friends do?
Friends support libraries in many important ways.
Friends:
- Provide volunteer support
- Raise private funds
- Support children’s programs
- Promote literacy and the love of books
- Sponsor cultural and literary programs
- Promote library advocacy in the community and on legislative issues
What are the benefits of being a Friend?
Friends receive several important benefits, including:
- Special invitations to library-sponsored events
- Library newsletter mailings
- Previews to library book sales
- The satisfaction of knowing that you are contributing to the enrichment of your community
Which branches have Friends groups?
How do I become a Friend?
To join, stop by your local branch and ask for a Friends of the Library Membership Form. Complete the form and mail it or deliver to the branch with your payment. Annual memberships are $10.00 for individuals and $20.00 for families.
