Bestselling Author Karin Slaughter Steps Out to Help Public Libraries
New York Times and number one international bestselling author Karin Slaughter feels very passionately about public libraries and has launched an all-out effort to help them during these times of steep budget cuts.
On Thursday, August 25, Slaughter appeared before the Georgia House of Representatives’ special legislative session to bring critical attention to the financial crisis public libraries face. Slaughter discusses her initiative SavetheLibraries.com and the importance of libraries on an NPR interview and on this YouTube video
Talk isn’t the only thing Slaughter is doing. Through her pilot program with the DeKalb Library Foundation, she raised more than $50,000 for DeKalb County Public Library in March. She also plans to donate one hundred percent of the U.S. sales from her next project to the DeKalb library system as well. That project is a digital short story titled “Thorn in My Side,” which goes on sale August 25 exclusively as a Kindle Single from Amazon Publishing’s Thomas & Mercer imprint.
Make a difference in the lives of others by supporting literacy and learning. The DeKalb Library Foundation funds library literacy programs in the DeKalb community.
