The library collection grew in 2012 thanks to many generous donors. New popular adult and children's books filled the shelves at Decatur Library with a $10,000 gift from an anonymous family foundation A $10,000 gift from another anonymous donor provided World Book Encyclopedia sets for nine branches.
A generous gift from the Marion Taylor Fund at the Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta, provided much needed replacement copies of well loved books and enabled the Special Literacy Collection to be updated with new materials across the entire library system.
Author Karin Slaughter is a special benefactor to the DeKalb County Public Library giving at the masterpiece level during 2012 for collection materials.
Thanks to the Pittulloch Foundation for a major grant supporting library literacy outreach programs in 2013.
Thanks to the Horizon Theatre for a benefit performance of "The Book Club Play" on May 15.
