Caribbean American Heritage Month: DCPL Opening Event
Date:Wednesday, June 7, 2017, 4:00 PM—7:30 PM
Event Type:Special Events

Celebrate Caribbean American Heritage Month at our opening event. Learn more about the various programs the library has planned in June, including the Caribbean Film Festival, the Anansi Storytelling Festival, Caribbean Spelling Bee and the very personal story of a young, first generation Caribbean American who journeys back to live on the island from which her family emigrated.  Also included will be a thought provoking discussion titled, "The Immigration Crisis: Its Psychological Impact and Cultural Engagement as a Remedy for Supporting Healthy Assimilation."   This will also serve as the opening of an exhibition of photographs depicting Caribbean Culture in Atlanta, and the attendees will be able to meet the photographer, Arthur Ratliff.
